Why Choose Corflute for Your Next Sign
What Our Print Shop Has Learned About Corflute Signs
Ordering a corflute sign is simple. Getting it to survive its full campaign outdoors is where most of the actual expertise lives, and it’s usually the details nobody mentions until a sign has already failed. A few things we factor into every job:
- Eyelets need to sit at corners and mid-points, not just the top. On anything larger than a standard 600x900mm board, a sign fixed only at the top two corners will tear at those points in wind within days. We place eyelets at all four corners plus mid-edge points on larger boards specifically to spread that load.
- Double-sided printing matters more than people expect. Real estate and election signs on roadside verges get seen from traffic moving in both directions. A single-sided print effectively halves your sign’s working audience. We print double-sided as standard on anything going on a two-way road, not just as an upsell.
- 3mm boards fail faster than customers expect in Queensland conditions. We regularly see 3mm corflute ordered for roadside real estate use because it’s cheaper, then replaced within a few weeks because the heat and wind bow or crack it at the stake line. If a sign is going anywhere exposed for more than a couple of weeks, 5mm is genuinely the better economics, not just the safer option.
- Stake depth is the most common cause of “the sign fell over” callbacks. The board itself rarely fails first, poor stake depth does. We recommend stakes driven at least 200-300mm into firm ground, more in sandy or recently disturbed soil common on new estates and construction sites.
- UV-cured ink matters more on horizontal or angled boards. Signs that catch direct sun for most of the day (north- or west-facing, common in Queensland) fade and chalk noticeably faster than shaded boards. We factor orientation into the ink and lamination recommendation, not just the board thickness.
- Boards can be reused, and most agencies already do this. Real estate agencies frequently reuse the same board across listings, updating just a photo panel or number insert rather than reprinting the whole sign. We can design with this in mind from the first order to save on reprint costs down the track.

What is a corflute sign?
